寶滴牢502膠是以α－氰基丙烯酸乙酯為主，加入增粘劑、穩定劑、增韌劑、阻聚劑等，通過先進生產工藝合成的單組份瞬間固化粘合劑。氰基丙烯酸酯是屬於丙烯醛基的樹脂，當把超能膠塗在物件表面時，溶劑會蒸發，而物件表面或來自空氣中的水份（更準確是水份所形成之氫氧離子）會使單體迅速地進行陰離子聚合反應（anionic polymerization）形成長而強的鏈子，把兩塊表面黏在一起。
